Rebecca Osborn, MA, LPC My Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from Southeastern University in April of 2007. I immediately went on to study at Waynesburg University where I graduated in 2009 with a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling Psychology. My Professional Experience: I have worked full time as a therapist in a variety of settings with a wide range of clients. My experience includes in home therapy with children, adolescents, and families (BHRS) who have been diagnosed with serious emotional disturbances, outpatient therapy, and case management services. Areas of Practice :
I work with individuals of all ages and am equipped to address a spectrum of emotional and behavioral concerns. My approach to treatment is rooted in Family Systems Theory, which encourages people to think of issues (e.g. marital conflict, addiction, adolescent defiance, difficult relationships, loneliness, etc.) in terms of a multigenerational family or a “system.” This approach encourages people to move away from blaming others and towards individual responsibility. In addition to Family Systems Theory, I often refer to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals focus on exploring relationships among their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. During therapy, we will actively engage to uncover unhealthy patterns of thought and how they may be causing self-destructive patterns and beliefs. Personal Passion: I have seen over the years that many of my patients are grateful that I not only have experience in a classroom and with other clients, but that my life experiences make me a better fit for their overall treatment. Many clients come to me because I am a follower of Christ and share their faith, or because I am a wife and mother to four children. Other's come because of a personal recommendation from a trusted friend. I am blessed to be a part of the Christian Counselors Collaborative and share their vision for serving those who are hurting and in need. No matter how you end up in my office, my commitment is to provide a place where you can find healing and hope to overcome life's challenges. |
